From Untitled - Pattern in Metal 4

These works are derived from a laser cut pattern, which, when disassembled, is used to create the pieces in the series. This pattern, and the images that adorn the resulting works, were inspired by the writings of Rene Descartes. I preparing for creating these works I studied Descartes philosophical writings, his mathematical discoveries, his drawings and the subsequent investigations by others in the field that is now referred to Cartesian Geometry, after him. The works are in limited edition, as only four version of the Untitled pattern was cut, from which a series of uniquely assembled works emerged. Many of the final works were adorned with drawings that reflected the geometric illustrations unearthed in the research.
